About Me

Hello!

my name is Terri Ellyn. I’m a mother, a wife, a daughter, a sister, etc… you know the rest. But my official title is Domestic Engineer AKA Queen of Everything. If I don’t know how to do something, I’ll figure it out. Except when it comes to computers…my husband can attest to that! EEEEK

I’m a newbie in the “blogging” world. All I want to do is share recipes, handy, helpful and money saving ideas that I encounter in life around my home. It could be anything from cooking to gardening to raising 14 chickens, 4 ducks, 2 dogs, a 17 year old daughter, a husband and a blog. I’ll name them all later.  When you stop by, hopefully, you’ll find something of value that you can take away and use in your life.

If you know me, you know I love to cook and bake, especially when I create my own recipes. I’m not sure which I prefer better, cooking or baking. If my entire day is spent in the kitchen, that’s OK with me. However, I’m also happy when I’m in my garden and my chickens and ducks are helping out with the weeding/bug control! 🙂

My love of cooking was sparked by my Italian background…need I say more? Both my mother and father are 100% Italian. Does that make me 200%? Food for thought, no pun intended.  Ellyn? My maiden name is Franciosa, ahhh, there’s the Italian!!! At the ripe old age of, about 5, my mom taught me how to make Sunday “gravy” and meatballs. Yes, “Italians” call it gravy because there is meat that simmers in the sauce. If there is NO meat it is sauce or marinara sauce, which is straight tomatoes and seasoning. Well, the jury is still out on that description. Just wanted to clear that up now.  So, going forward, if I say gravy, you know there is meat involved, most likely meatballs and sausage. By the way, the gravy you would put on, say roast beef dinner, would be called brown gravy and on a turkey dinner, would be turkey gravy. ….and then there’s pizza sauce. OK, enough of the gravy explanations. In summary, gravy is where it all began…Thanks Mom!!

When you stop by for a visit, you will see a variety of posts. Not necessarily just cooking on any given day. Trust me, I NEVER sit down, and I’m usually doing 5 things at once, which includes eating my lunch standing up and baking a cake, all while texting my daughter, scooting my dogs out from under my feet and filling up a water can in the sink. Well, I lied, I am sitting now, however it is 11:08 PM, technically, I should be in the horizontal position with my eyes closed dreaming about sitting on a sandy beach with one of those fluorescent colored drinks in my hand with the tiny little umbrellas.
